John “Jack”, age 84, passed away December 14,2021. He was born 09/10/1937 to the late John and Marie (Connelly) Fischer.
Jack and Joanne were united in marriage on September 25, 1959 and were married for 62 years. Joanne was a homemaker and loving grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Joanne’s favorite hobby was shopping, especially hitting garage sales and thrift shopping. She always loved a good deal. Joanne had a unique sense of humor and loved a good laugh.
Jack served in the United States Navy and was very proud of his service. After the Navy, Jack had a long career as a metallurgist. He had a very strong work ethic and was a wonderful provider to his family. Jack had a love for golf and fishing and he enjoyed sharing these hobbies with his grandchildren.
Together, Jack and Joanne shared a love of dancing. If you were looking for them on a Saturday night in the 70s and early 80s you would not find them at home. They would most likely be out with their friends disco dancing, and they were fabulous at it. They retired to Oscoda in 2002 and loved being “up-north”. In their retirement they loved visits from their children, grandchildren, and close friends. They developed a very close and special friendship with their daughter Jennifer’s in-laws, Bob and Sharon Finger. They spent long weekends together golfing, shopping, and enjoying each other’s company. This friendship remained close and very important to them until their last days.
Survivors are, son John J. Fischer Jr, daughters, Bridgette (Doug) Grose, and Jennifer (David) Finger; daughter-in-law, Linda Fischer; grandchildren, Erica, Abby, Chloe, Sydney, Evan; Joanne’s sister, Harriet Bammel; John's siblings, Peggy (Jim) Ray, Cynthia (Rick) Anger, and Rick Fischer; and many nieces, nephews.
