Obituary of Angeline Ethlyn Sweeney

Angeline Ethlyn Sweeney, affectionately known as Angie to her friends and family, at age 92 passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, after a short illness.  She was born on January 10, 1934, the daughter of Cleo Pelch and Walter Krompetz Sr. in Clare, Michigan.

Angie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her deep love for her family. Angie's journey on Earth concluded in Tawas City, Michigan, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family and friends. She was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her, embodying the Christian virtues of kindness and compassion throughout her life.

Angie was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Paul Sweeney, who preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, Walter Krompetz Jr. and Stuart Krompetz. Left to cherish her memory are; her daughter Jessica Iloff (Chris Iloff), her grandsons Brock and Benjamin Sheaves, and 3 great grandchildren, Joe Squarcia, Sophia Squarcia, and Elijah Sheaves. She is also survived by her brothers, Thomas and Donald Krompetz, and their families.

Angie had a long career as a personnel director at a chain of family-owned grocery stores in Saginaw. It was there that she met Paul, and together they forged a life of love. Upon leaving the workforce, Angie operated a home daycare, where her nurturing spirit enriched the lives of many children and parents. In her retirement, Angie's creativity found its fullest expression. She was a talented seamstress and an avid crafter, selling her beautiful creations and sharing her artistic gifts with the world. Her hands were rarely still, as she poured her love into every stitch.

Angie's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through her actions, always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a prayer for those in need. She was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Au Gres, Michigan where she also taught religious education to pre and grade school children. Angie found great joy in golfing with her husband and their circle of friends. The golf course was a place of laughter, friendly competition, and cherished memories that Angie held dear throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Mark Catholic Church, Au Gres, Michigan.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
