Obituary of Joan Louisa Fair
Joan Louisa Fair (Lootens)
1958 – 2026
Joan Louisa Fair, age 67, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Bay City, Michigan, following a long and courageous illness. A beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her, Joan has now been reunited with the many family members who preceded her in death.
Joan was a woman of diverse passions and a lifelong learner who attended Mid Michigan Community College simply for the joy of discovering new things. For many years, she was a familiar and friendly face at the hospital in Mt. Pleasant, where she served with care as an aide and cook in the dietary department.
Outside of work, Joan was a true collector at heart. She found great joy in the hunt for antiques, coins, and glassware, often setting up shop at local flea markets. In the summer, her hands were usually in the dirt, tending to her vibrant flowers and her prized tomatoes. However, she was perhaps most famous for her kitchen skills—specifically the legendary fudge she prepared every Christmas for her loved ones.
Above all, Joan was a woman who lived for her family. She was immensely proud of her two sons and was a devoted mother to her many "fur babies" over the years. She shared a special, grandmotherly bond with her nephews, Roland and Malachi, and her niece, Paradise. She truly adored the moments when family would visit or call, and she lived for the chance to spoil all the children.

Joan is survived by her sons, Dale Moore of Lansing and Cody Colt of Mt. Pleasant; and her sisters, Sonja Nichols and Leona Knight, both of Oil City.
