Obituary of Thomas Shreve
Thomas J. Shreve, age 81, passed away peacefully, at his home on January 26, 2026.
He was born in Flint, Michigan on June 30, 1944 to Joseph K. & Elisabeth G. ( Messier) Shreve. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves and was an electrician by trade. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or fix. He worked for 30 years at GM and retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed many things with “The Love of His Life” Joann, whom he married in September of 1971. They spent 52 1/2 years together. They enjoyed fishing at Rice Lake, camping at Houghton Lake, and also camping with the grandchildren. They worked on boats together, she re-upholstered and he re-did the rest. They always enjoyed a family gathering with friends and family, and their fish frys were the best on Mother’s Day. They were always together, until the time of her passing in 2024.
Together they raised her three children, Kathy (David) Withers, Jerry Schultz, and Tina( Scot) Faulk. He was the best step-dad, that we could ask for, he treated us like, we were his own. He gave us so much as children and even more after he left, he made sure that he took care of us, even after his passing. They also have five grandchildren, Joshua (Nichole) David, David (Kara) Withers, Shaunee Withers, Trevor (Hailey) Schultz, and Jon Bauer; nine great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces from his family and hers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Shreve; his father and mother, Joseph K. and Elisabeth G. Shreve; and his brother, Jackson Shreve.
He will be missed, but we know that now, he is at peace, because Joann is now, by his side. His heart was truly broken when she died. There will be no funeral at this time, and per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is being planned for late spring in 2026.
