Obituary of Kenneth John Seyka

Kenneth John Seyka was born on January 6, 1948, in Lansing, MI to Louis John and Kathleen (Hundt) Seyka. He passed away peacefully at his home on May 20, 2025 in DeWitt, MI after an extended illness. He was a retired Data Systems Analyst with the Michigan State Department of Mental Health, having worked for twelve years at the Michigan State Psychiatric Hospital in Traverse City, MI before returning to Lansing and retiring in 2010.

Ken was an avid pleasure and tournament fisherman (especially Salmon & Walleye).  Deer and bear hunting were yearly traditions and he was a proud member of The Red Whiskers Hunt Club in Cedar River, MI. Ken enjoyed golfing with many relatives and friends, and played in Lansing's Men's Fast-Pitch Softball Leagues. He was an avid fan of sports, especially MSU, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers. He was also a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles and The Federated Polish Home. In addition, he enjoyed travel, and especially to Kauai, Lake Tahoe, Sedona, and now, heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gabrielle (Madden) Seyka, sons Timothy, wife Nancy, Jeffrey, wife Kim, Bryan, wife Heather, and Trevor, wife Jennifer. Grandchildren Brendan, Carter, Casey, Adeline, Grayson, Annika, Blake and Logan, Ken was pre-deceased by his siblings Judy and Gary. Ken has many close relatives and friends who enjoyed his sarcastic wit during a game of poker or at the end of a good hunt.
