Obituary of Janet Marlene Grundas
Janet Marlene Grundas, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, just shy of her 84th birthday in St. Charles, MI. She was born in Marlette, Michigan on May 15, 1941 to Alton and Emaranda (Temple) DeGrow. She grew up on a farm and was active in the Methodist Church in Silverwood, MI. She graduated from Saginaw Business Institute in 1961 and married John M. Grundas, and they settled in Saginaw, MI to raise their 2 children. They were active in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and she worked as a secretary there for a few years. They retired to Prudenville, MI and later returned to the Saginaw area to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John M Grundas of Saginaw, Michigan; daughter, Connie and son-in-law, Richard Huibregtse of Simi Valley, CA; and son, John and daughter-in-law, Amy Grundas of Wheeler, MI. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren whom she loved and enjoyed very much. She is also survived by her sister, Berniece Hunkins, of Mayville, MI.
Janet was an artist all of her life. She enjoyed drawing and painting with a variety of mediums on different surfaces including paper, canvas, wood and clothing. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a seamstress, and loved making quilts for her family. She was often knitting or crocheting blankets, and wearables. She enjoyed learning and exploring new techniques. Every year, she enjoyed planting flowers which often included vegetables, creating beautiful gardens with the help of her husband. She loved sighting wildlife and birds in the yard, travel and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was deeply loved.
Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, MI.
