Obituary of Richard Walter Welchner

Richard “Rich” Walter Welchner, age 55 of Bay City, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. 

He was born on September 8, 1969.  He served eight years in the United States Navy of which he was very proud.  He enjoyed guns, cooking, and anything to do with his church.

He is survived by his three children, Chandler, Chace, and Chloe Welchner; his significant other, Heidi Matuszewski; his parents, Richard and Lucille Welchner; sister, Toni Bolzman; brother, Rick Welchner; the mother of his children, Melissa Welchner; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Welchner.

Cremation has taken place.  The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at People’s Baptist Church, 701 W. Midland St., Bay City.  Visitation will be held at church prior to the service from 10 AM – 11 AM.  Rich will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family for his children.  Condolences can be shared at www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
