Obituary of Josephine Margaret Tovar
Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine Margaret Tovar, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 85 in her hometown of Saginaw, MI. Born on December 31, 1939, also in Saginaw, MI to Katherine and Joseph Pimentel. She married Tomas Tovar on September 26, 1992, and he proceeds her in death. Josephine was a stay-at-home wife and mother. She lived a full life devoted to her family, a passion for the simple joys in life, and a unique personality that touched all who knew her.
Josie, as she was affectionately known, was a proud graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School. She was a woman of many interests, finding pleasure in the company of her beloved birds, the beauty of her flourishing flowers, savoring her favorite diet coke, and shopping trip to Walmart. She loved her soap operas and was the queen of horror. She loved her gatherings with family and friends for the holidays. She also enjoyed decorating her house for Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. These simple pleasures brought great joy to Josie and were a source of countless memories shared with family and friends.
She is survived by a loving and extensive family, including her children: Kenneth (Maria) Pimentel, Louiseanna "Chris" Tovar, Sarah (Frank) Zaragoza-Tovar, Mary Lou Tovar, Edward (Erica) Tovar, Joanne (Keith) Harvey, and Deborah Tovar. Josie was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to many, with a special bond with her dear John Paul Tovar, who held a treasured place in her heart.
Josie was preceded in death by her daughters Gloria Tovar, Kathryn Pimentel, and Jacquline "Jackie" Tovar. Each of them held a special place in her life and her passing marks a reunion with these dearly missed family members.
Josephine Tovar will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her journey was a beautiful one, marked by love, laughter, and the satisfaction of a life well-lived. As we bid farewell to Josephine Margaret Tovar, we celebrate a life of kindness, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Though she has left this earth, the light she brought into the world will never fade.
