Martha Sloan

Obituary of Martha Louise Sloan

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We gather here today not to mourn but to celebrate the life of a most precious soul, Martha L. Sloan, who was called to her heavenly home on February 3, 2025, at the age of 49. Martha, a lifelong resident of Prescott Michigan, was a beacon of love and faith, born to this earth on March 12, 1975, and departing from the very same community that she so dearly cherished.

Martha's journey began as the daughter of Jim and the late Sandra Gross, and she grew up surrounded by a loving family. Her father, Jim, along with her dear stepmother, Ann, and siblings Joe Crane, Jeff and Amy McKuen, Bill and Angie McKuen, Ralph McKuen, Eddie and Rachel McKuen, and Dee McKuen, shared in the joys and challenges that life presented. Her sister Sherry predeceased her, leaving memories etched in their hearts.

The true testament of Martha's love was reflected in the eyes of her beloved husband, Jerald M. Sloan, and her cherished son, Seth A. Sloan. They were her pride and joy, her heart's treasures for whom she had an endless reservoir of affection and care.

For many years, Martha served as an area manager for Bugle Boy, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a level of dedication that inspired all who knew her. She poured her heart into everything she did, which was evident to colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond her professional life, Martha was known for her hands, which were rarely still, as she was always engaged in sewing, crafts, or solving puzzles. Her love for reading reflected her quest for knowledge and her desire to understand the world and the word of God more deeply.

As a devoted Christian, Martha found great joy and purpose in teaching Sunday school at Skidway Lake Baptist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she shared it generously until her health began to wane. Her spirit, filled with grace, touched all those who had the privilege to sit under her teachings.

Loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful—these are the words that best describe Martha. She lived her life as a testament to God's love, always putting others before herself and exemplifying the virtues she believed in so fervently. As the scripture says, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). Martha embodied this scripture through her actions and her unyielding belief in the goodness of the Lord.

Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, yet we are comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace, resting in the arms of her Creator. We are assured that her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through those who were fortunate enough to experience her kindness and her nurturing spirit.

Today, as we bid farewell to Martha L. Sloan, let us hold tight to the memories, the lessons, and the love she imparted upon us. Let us rejoice in the knowledge that her journey was not ended but transformed, as she has been called to that divine congregation above.

We give thanks for the blessing of her life amongst us and for the sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
