Obituary of Mary Ann Stone
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Ann Stone, lovingly known to all as Mary, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of 87 in Midland, Michigan. Born on August 27, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, Mary's life was characterized by her warm generosity, infectious humor, and unwavering love for her family.
Mary's journey began as a bright-eyed young girl in Flint, where she grew up surrounded by friends and community. Her heart found its match when she met and later married the love of her life, William L. Stone. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter and cherished moments. Mary's role as a mother to her four children, Catherine, Debra, William, and Susan, was one she held dear to her heart. She nurtured them with love, guiding them with wisdom and humor, qualities they have carried into their own lives and passed down to their children. Catherine has been waiting for her arrival in heaven.
The family grew, and Mary embraced her role as a grandmother to Catherine, Bill, Nicole, Shannon, and Samantha with the same loving spirit. She took immense joy in witnessing their milestones and enveloping them in the same love and care she had provided their parents. Mary's legacy further blossomed with the arrival of seven great-grandchildren, each of whom added a new sparkle to her eye.
Mary's professional life was marked by her dedication to the Midland Public Schools, from which she retired after years of devoted service. Her work ethic and commitment to the children left a lasting impact on them and the many lives she touched throughout her career.
Beyond her family and work, Mary had a zest for life that was contagious. She found pleasure in the simple things, like the thrill of a good game at the casino, the tranquility of walks in the woods, and the challenge of a complex puzzle. A voracious reader, Mary could often be found lost in a book, only to look up with a smile ready to share the story. Her love for games wasn't just about the challenge, but also the joy of gathering with family and friends for a moment of shared fun.
Mary's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and generosity. She had a unique ability to light up a room and make everyone feel at home. Her sense of humor was a source of constant entertainment, and her laughter was a melody that her family will cherish forever. Mary's generosity knew no bounds, whether it was her time, her resources, or her ability to listen; she was always there for those in need.
As we remember Mary, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with precious moments, and a legacy of love that will continue to influence generations. Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her beloved husband, William; her children, Debra (Scott) Mason, William T. Stone, and Susan (Eric) Klumpp; her grandchildren, Catherine (Sean) Brown-Busch, Bill (Emily) Stone, Nicole (Howard) Gossmeyer, Shannon Klumpp, and Samantha Klumpp; and her great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Mary Ann Stone's story is one of a life embraced fully, shared generously, and loved deeply. Her spirit will live on in the stories told, the games played, and the quiet moments of reflection in the beauty of nature she so loved. We bid farewell to a remarkable woman, whose presence was a gift to all who knew her. Mary's legacy will continue to inspire, her memories will bring comfort, and her love will remain a guiding light for all the days to come.
